The Orinoco Delta

… has an area of 40,000 km² and 375 river arms bring the water masses of the Orinoco to the Atlantic. The delta is very rich in parrots, toucans, hoatzin birds and caimans. The Indians who live in this area call themselves Warao. This means the man with boat.

Our local guide is an Indian from the Warao tribe, he explains us the different bird species, river arms and plants. We will go on a jungle hike where we will learn about different medicinal plants and other plants that the Indians use for different purposes. Of course you can fish for pirañas and if you want you can take them to the camp to taste them. If the weather is good, we can enjoy an unforgettable sunset on the Rio Orinoco.
